Raising Cain
I have had this movie sitting on my counter for almost two weeks. I am hoping to get to it tonight and cannot wait to post my thoughts about it this weekend. Stay tuned!

An Update to the Pen15 club
both boys go in tomorrow for surgeries on their boy parts. I am so not excited for this, especially since I'm recovering from having my gall bladder out on Friday. This weekend was a blur and Easter really didn't exist in our house. I spent the day with white lips, trying not to pass out everytime I got up. Brandon spent the day being Mr. Mom. At some point Gamma had brought up an Easter basket for Monkey with loads of candy and bubbles. I am happy to say my 2 year old has no idea what candy is and I'm thankful for that! He did enjoy the bubbles and crayons. We didn't make it to church because I barely made it 5 min in the shower without passing out. It was horrible.
Monkey walks around saying he has owies on his tummy but when I show him mine, he starts doing this bazaare dancing-jumping-covering his eyes-yelling "no momma!" thing. He is not a fan of my owies. He has been really good about me telling him I can't pick him up because of my owies. He says "hold my hand?" instead which is wonderful. I think the only regression we have seen from him is that he does want to be carried up and downstairs more than ever (and we can't if it's just one of us). Its not all the time, but it's noticable. He also wants to "rockie" more he never wanted to do before Bubsy. Basically he just want snuggles more and that's fine by us! It's nice to have him come over and ask for a snuggle or a rockie or a 'skmo kiss.
Bubsy is close ro rolling over! He wants to so badly. He's so long compared to his brother and we can't believe how much they have the same personalities for now! Bubsy is so laid back (not quite as laid back as Monkey) and loves to observe.
Another amazing thing: Both boys are napping at the same time in the afternoon!! HOOOORAAAAY!! I can't tell you how amazing this is. However, they are both talking in their beds so I better go get them up.
Wish us luck tomorrow!

O-bots!
So we are celebrating Monkey's 2nd birthday party at a local indoor park. We are doing a robot themed party. Monkey knew nothing about robots until I bought him his big boy bedding which was covered in them. He did see one Backyardigan's episode with a robot as well. That robot always said "cheese" because he wanted his picture taken, so now my son thinks that all "o-bots" say cheese. I have been caught up in all things birthday party the past few weeks, so not much posting but I promise I will post pics from this weekend as soon as it is over.

You know you have a boy [with the flu] when...
driving through the country you ask "is that cow poop or boy poop?"

You know you have a boy when...
instad of walking through the garage that is covered with sand/gravel/dirt from the roads he says "I'm gonna sit" and when you say "oh no" he scoots along the garage floor on his butt, then gets up on his knees and walks on those a while, then crawls, and then finally, just for good measure, rubs his dirty hands through his hair.
The Pen15 Club
Remember that club? C'mon, you were in middle school and a friend (or enemy or frenemy) said, "Wanna be in the pen 15 club?" You thought "weird, but whatever" and then they took permanent marker and wrote pen15 on your hand but it looked much more like the word penis than pen15. I feel like I have not escaped the pen15 club, and while I enjoy it most of the time, I am tired of penis being a topic of conversation.
We debated and debated whether or not we should get Monkey boy circumcised. We knew that, basically, it's a cosmetic thing and while we did not fall for scare tactics of several sites (check out circumcision.org), we did know that there were reasons we did not want it. Ultimately, we decided to go ahead with it and noticed from the beginning that Monkey seemed to have a lot of extra skin and rarely did we see the head of his penis. We brought it up but several pediatricians said once his fat pad went down, so would the skin. Not so, now we are in a situation where, coming up on his 2nd birthday, we are going to have to have surgery to get it fixed because it will look somewhere in between circ'd and not circ'd. Great. We wanted to do Monkey's before he's in underwear. A diaper just seems so much more comfortable in this situation...
On to Bubsy. When he was born the dr's thought he had hypospadias. Basically this means his hole is not at the end of his penis but someplace else. It also means he has a partial natural circ. which is where he did not develop a full foreskin. Really, more penis issues? So, at the time of birth we opted not to circ because the foreskin he did have would need to be used to readjust the hole. We went to a surgeon's consult and found out if he did have hypospadias; it was very mild but would not need surgery. The surgeon thinks that the dr. assumed it was hypospadias because of the partial natural circ. which indicative of it. Anyway, in a few weeks Bubs will be going to surgery to have his circ. at 4 months of age and if anything does need to be repaired it will be. We decided this needed to be done because what foreskin is there does not retract and, therefore, we cannot keep it as clean as possible. It is only covering one edge of his penis and is not
a normal foreskin by any means.
While we were going to just leave Monkey boys, now that his brother will be full circ'd, we wanted to make sure they looked the same. I know that's sounds like a dumb reason at first but really, if you are a boy and had brothers, did you not take baths together, play "swords" (my husband told me all about it, men...you are caught!), and see each other's penis? I just don't want either one to have a complex.
So, over the next month or so, life will be marked by surgeries and taking care of sore peepees. Who would have thought that at age 27, I was still a member of the Pen15 Club, even if it's not scrawled across my hand in black permanent marker.
Cheers to the Pen15 club!

You know you have a boy when....
you say it's time to go to Target and he says "o.k" and shuts off the DVR, the reciever and the TV (which by the way does NOT have a button, but instead a general area you need to lightly touch).

You know you have a boy when....
from the other room you hear a crash, a gasp from Dad and yet he refuses to tell you what Monkey boy just did because "he's fine, don't worry."
